The Power of our Words

For we all stumble in many ways, but If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man able to bridle the whole body as well! (James 3:2) We may not realize it but with our words we steer our life's journey through our mouth. In the book of Proverbs 18;21 it says death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Jesus said in the book of John, that His words that He spoke were Spirit and life to those who heard them. As a child of God, we are accountable for the words that we speak out of our mouth and what we establish and create with them.

I minister to many who have been held captive by curses and harsh words spoken to them, especially in their childhood. The Word of God tells us that so a man thinks in his heart so is he. (Proverbs 23:7) We are not what others have said, but we are what God says! A part of us being healed is replacing the negative words with the Word of Truth. As one begins to believe the Word of life, they then can become like Christ and be the Word that became flesh and dwell among this dark world. (John 1:14) Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

We can create breakthrough or warfare by our words. Much of our personal warfare could be avoided by righteous speaking. It's not the devil, but you that are creating it! When we speak evil of ourselves and others, we come into agreement with our adversary. We must be quick to listen and slow to speak. (James 1;19) Be guided by Holy Spirits words within in difficult situations use His wisdom not yours. Speak life to those, being like your Father in heaven, who by faith the worlds were created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made from things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:3) We need to realize that we are a speaking spirit that has the power to change situations and release light into darkness by our words. Your words of life can help guide those around you into a path of victory.

Today allow the Lord Jesus to clean up your words and the atmosphere of wrongful, idle speech that you have created. Do a sweep through with repentance and confessions of faith and declarations of His purpose over your own life, situations and those connected to you. Then watch things begin to change as your words.
